23 APR 13:Thoughts and Thanks...
I'm not big on words but I did want to thank everyone that came out for the event. (with the exception of one BLOKE), I think the essence of the event was captured and everyone enjoyed the course and the laid back set up. All of the positive feedback has been greatly appreciated.

A few big "thank yous" to: Mike (AKA The Daddy Mac) for helping with the timing, consumption of beer and a lot more, Sheila (#1 volunteer in CO) for helping out all day while freezing her a** off and last but not least, Wild Bill and the DCSAR Team. Bill and his team made us all feel extremely safe and comfortable while you guys were out there and I know you felt the same way.

Now its time for a little break. Keep checking back, the mad scientist will be back in the lab before long to come up with another simplistically rustic event.. R3 out.

29 MAR13 UPDATE:  The new course map has been approved!.  The out and back is gone and depending on river currents and depth, there will be four water crossings.  Pictures of the course and can be found on our Facebook page.  The course is subject to change with consideration to weather conditions.  Plan for the worst (to be cold and wet) and hope for the best (75 and sunny).  Either way be prepared!!  Quick link to map HERE


13MAR13 UPDATE:
More recon today. The course is mostly set and marked. Should have a final map up soon..
A few things to keep in mind:
The course is WET. Plan on COLD water being up to your shins during the water crossings. 
Make sure you follow the course flags. There are lots of twists, turns, zigs and zags, so it will be very easy to get off track if you aren’t paying attention (HR residents).
You will get scratches and small cuts from the marked trail. Deal with it.
For those of you who have a phobia of running on pavement, you can literally run 99% of the whole course on trails and side trails next to the paved trails.

R3 Events has put together a day of racing for true long distance runners.  Chatfield State Park will play host to the CURE- Chatfield Ultra Racing Events.  Pick your distance (20k fun run, 50k, 50 mile or the challenging and rare 100k) and join us on 4/20/13 for some fun while enjoying the setting of mountains, lakes, trails and streams at this inaugural event. This course is ideal for those wishing to explore the world of Ultra running for the first time and for those wanting to see if there are as fast as they like to brag about.

Warning: This is not your typical neighborhood 5k. No Wimps allowed!

Race Date:  20 April 2013
Location:     Chatfield State Park
                    Littleton, CO 80125                                              

Race Starts Approximate:  

100K ~     6:30 am (NEW START TIME!)
50M ~      6:30 am
50K ~       7:30 am
20K ~       8:30 am

Course Details:  The course will consist of 12.5 mile loops on single track, pavement and crushed gravel trails. Splash (or wade, depending on the snow run off ) through streams, navigate through elk/deer trails and hit a paved/dirt trail on your way to check out the boats at the marina.  The elevation gain/loss is less than 200ft (map tab for details). The entire course is completely runnable but tough.The course will be CLEARLY marked. Anyone getting lost will be made fun of..

Permitting:  Due to the State Park permitting, this race will be capped at 300 total for all events and pet's will not be allowed to run with you on the course.
